State Leadership Conference

Every year, the Texas FFA Association hosts a conference to train, encourage, and enhance the students who are elected to serve as Area officers across the state.  Part of being an area officer is required attendance to this event. The training the officers receive at this time will be used during our Area Leadership Conference at Clarendon.

News from past SLC's that you might find useful:

You can go to the following link to get to a google slide presentation which will walk you through developing your workshop for area leadership camp using the new facilitation model.  This slide show will help you understand what is going to happen at SLC better and you can be watching the officers as they present their workshops to see how they are accomplishing these things as well.

Also, I am attaching a form that you can use to start thinking about your facilitation. This will make things much easier as you try to decide what all you will need.  You will notice, at state camp, the state officers will use tons of presentation pad paper as well as lots of brightly colored markers. Mrs. Corse already has these items… but really think about everything you might need for your workshop… We don’t expect you to really start fleshing these ideas out until state leadership camp, but having this form will help you as you start to plan.

This slide show tackles the tough question of: How do you process students?!?!  How do you get them to unpack the information they have learned through an activity, analyze it, and then develop a plan to use it for the future.

Are you terrified that the room will be out of control and you won’t know how to get their attention?  Well the two lessons from today will deal with just that.  Remember, the more you engage students and the clearer and more consistent your directions are, the better your facilitation will go from a management standpoint!

So check out this presentation over how to effectively give directions. You will be doing this a lot at camp!

The next, and final one, will be about setting the mood throughout your presentation and how to keep your students in that perfect place where they are engaged, active, in the right mood and how to fix it when that wave crashes.

Have you ever been in a classroom where everything was going great and then for some reason the place went crazy? This is called a Wave Crash… and they are inevitably going go happen… what do you do when the wave crashes?
